Over the past couple weeks, I've gotten to know the "hardcore" side of Smash Bros. If you want to play the game with no items on "neutral" stages, go for it. But I personly like playing Smash Bros because of the randomness and wacky stages.
Only a few more days until it's released in Japan, then the Smash forums can stop posting rumors!
Of course you can fight me on hyrule temple with mewtwo. Items? Sure. *doesn't turn on a time limit for the stock match, because most people don't know what it is* Try and catch me now
If you ask me, a real hardcore pro would be someone who strives to deal with the randomness that makes the game fun -- err, I mean, "unfair" -- rather than tell everybody then have to be the same for anything to matter.
I bet that if the game makers were to release a game with only one flat level and one character with only a palate change, they would complain that game lacked choice.

This is just perfect. I remember getting grilled once by a couple "hardcore" players for suggesting we turned on items or tried a different stage other than the ONE SINGLE ONE we were using. They were just horrified, like I had suggested we play the game the way the developers originally intended, in the way that differentiated it from all other fighters out there.
There's a difference between "hardcore" gamers and actual hardcore gamers. What's funny is I kicked the butts of those who claimed to be hardcore gamers with some pretty low-tier characters.
There's a point to playing games and its not showing off skills. It's to have fun.
